CALGARY PUBLIC LIBRARY CELEBRATES LOVE YOUR LIBRARY DAY ON OCTOBER 14 

In celebration of National Library Month, Calgary Public Library is thrilled to host Love Your Library Day on Saturday, October 14. Calgarians are invited to visit their nearest location to enjoy free, family programming while discovering everything the Library has to offer.    

“Every October, Calgary Public Library looks forward to celebrating Love Your Library Day,” says Sarah Meilleur, CEO, Calgary Public Library. “This city-wide event is an opportunity for us to recognize our members, welcome new visitors, and celebrate Calgary’s world-class Library system and the invaluable staff and volunteers that make each location an integral part of local communities.”  

Love Your Library Day will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at each of the Library’s 21 locations. The celebrations will include a special Family Storytime, music performances, games, crafts, special activities, treats, prizes, and more.   

Not only is Love Your Library Day a chance for existing members to visit their favourite Library location; it is also an opportunity to introduce friends and family to the Library and the many programs and services offered across the system. From Digital Resources and new bestsellers to programs and services, the Library has something for everyone, from young families and new Canadians, to students, working professionals, and everyone in between.  

In addition to Love Your Library Day festivities, the Library is also celebrating four community locations that have a milestone birthday in 2023:  

• Village Square Library — 40 Years  
• Nose Hill Library — 35 Years  
• Signal Hill Library — 25 Years  
• Rocky Ridge Library — 5 years       

Visitors will be able to celebrate these exciting milestone birthdays during Love Your Library Day with additional programming at these select locations — and a sweet treat or two!  

 Calgary Public Library will also be celebrating another special milestone this year. The first week of November will mark Central Library’s fifth birthday, which will be celebrated separately on November 4. 

Whether you are a regular visitor or it's been a while since you last wandered through the doors of your local Library, Love Your Library Day encourages you to discover the treasure trove of knowledge, connection, and community that can only be found at Calgary Public Library.
