What to Know Before Visiting the Library

What to Know Before Visiting the Library

In accordance with the Provincial Public Health Emergency Order, all Calgary Public Library locations will be temporarily closed until further notice as of December 12 at 5:00pm to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

The health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and visitors remains our top priority, and Library leadership will continue to work with the City of Calgary and Alberta Health Services to determine when it is appropriate to return to normal service levels. To access reliable and up-to-date public health information and resources, please visit alberta.ca/covid-19.

While physical locations will be closed, the Library is committed to providing as much public service as safely as possible.

Curbside pick-up services and exterior return chutes are available at select locations.

Library Hotline remains open for customer support and information service during revised hours of operation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us online, or call 403.260.2600.

The Library provides incredible resources you can use while you are at home. We encourage you to use our Digital Library which includes eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming movies and music, eMagazines and online classes. If you don’t have a Library card, register for one online for immediate access to the Digital Library. Any additional information will be posted at calgarylibrary.ca/covid-19 as well as Facebook and Twitter.

Locations are open until December 12 at 5:00 pm

The capacity of each location is below 25% so you may have to wait before entering, especially during peak times. The Library encourages seniors and persons with underlying health conditions more susceptible to COVID-19 to visit in the first hour of service. Visit calgarylibrary.ca/locations to check the hours of the Library closest to you.

Physical distancing and personal hygiene protocols

The Library has implemented physical distancing and personal hygiene protocols to create a safe and clean environment for staff and the public. Signs are in place throughout each location to help guide you.

When you enter a physical location

Wear a mask. As of August 1, all staff and visitors are required to wear a mask inside Library locations in keeping with the Temporary Face Coverings Bylaw. A single-use mask can be provided to visitors on request.

Clean your hands. Hand sanitizing stations are located at the entrance of all locations.

Limit your visit to 60 minutes. This helps ensure more people can access services. Due to physical distancing and limited access, wait times may be experienced. We appreciate your patience.
